Leicester Sunday Tourists Bowling Club

Who are we?

The Sunday Toursists are a group of flat green bowlers from about 20 Leicestershire clubs, who enjoy a good day out that includes a game of bowls. Formed in 1965, the Leicester Sunday Tourists Bowling Club are a touring side which has no home base of it's own. They play friendly matches against various clubs in Leicestershire and in other counties within reasonable day trip range. Originally formed to allow the members to bring their families along, the club has retained its family tradition and in some cases we now have third generation members along on many of our trips. As a club we try to be forward thinking (the family attitude was revolutionary in 1965 in Leicestershire bowling circles), hence this page on the internet. We are always looking for change or improvement in our fixtures / events and would like to here from other bowlers / bowling clubs out there on the net. We try not to take anything too serious, we leave that to the clubs who have greens and club houses to maintain. Currently the club has about 67 playing members and a fixture list of 10 matches throughout the summer months and a four day weekend tour. Through the winter months we hold various fund raising events to subsidise our travels during the summer.

Season 2008 now at a close, we have finished with a record of played 12, won 4 and lost 8
